One of my weekend projects that seems to never end is clearing out my guest room (aka, going through boxes and realizing if it has been in there for a year, I probably don't need it). I want to make sure the spare room is not only welcoming, but comfortable and cozy, too.

Cozying-up your own guest room?
- Make sure you have an additional lighting next to the bed- there's nothing worse than getting cozy under the sheets with a book and having to get up to turn off the light!
- Provide cozy, fresh bedding with lots of layers. Also, causally leave a throw at the end of the bed- this will provide extra warmth, if needed, and is inviting for an afternoon cat nap.
- Don't leave your junk everywhere. You want to your guest room to feel like a bedroom, not a storage room that just happens to have a bed in it. Either store your stuff under the bed or in the closet (but leave room for guests to hang clothes!) or find somewhere else for it.
- Be sure to stock your guest room with towels before they arrive. Leave out a few fresh bath towels and facecloths for your guests, depending how long they're staying.
- Want to make it even more cozy? Fill a cute basket with mini shampoo and conditioner, lotion, mouthwash and other bathroom goodies. It's a great way to use up those little hotel toiletries!
- Leave out fun magazines and books- especially local reads that may be interesting to out-of-towners and provide fun ideas of what to do while they're here. Maybe they'll even bring that Rhode Island Monthly back as a souvenir.
